Service Description
* Beginner & Intermediate Level This class is designed to give students a strong foundation in working with borosilicate glass, with a focus on color application and manipulation. Over the course of three days, students will learn essential techniques for transforming solid color rods into tubing and shaping them into finished forms. Day One: Understanding Color and Flame Chemistry • Introduction to flame chemistry and how different colors react in the flame. • Demonstrations of core techniques for creating hollow tubing, including coil potting, blowouts, and striping. Day Two: Exploring Color Applications • Hands-on experimentation with various color application methods. • Students will develop their own unique color prep, exploring layering and other design techniques. Day Three: Hollow Shaping and Final Forms • Using the prepared color tubing to create finished forms. • Instruction in shaping techniques for small vessels, pipes, or other student-chosen forms. By the end of the workshop, students will have a deeper understanding of borosilicate color techniques and will leave with their own completed pieces. * Class Dates: Starts Friday June 6 and ends on Sunday June 8th. Class is from 10:00 to 17:00 with an hour long lunch break. * You can bring your own lunch or join the class to go out and eat together.
