Service Description
A 6-day flameworking intensive with yours truly: Jason Hitchcock (owner & operator of Berlin Flameworking Studio) This 6-day intensive is designed for intermediate flameworkers who want to strengthen their understanding of color and form in borosilicate glass. Students will explore how color behaves in the flame and learn practical techniques for preparing, mixing, and applying color with confidence. Topics include making color prep (lines, dots, and twisty cane), mixing colors, creating wig wags, and applying silver fuming to both solid work and tubing. Along with this is including sculptural construction, clean attachments, cutting glass elements, hollow wig wag forms, and an introduction to goblet fundamentals. The class emphasizes intentional process, heat control, and repeatable results, with demonstrations and guided studio time throughout the week. Students will leave with a deeper understanding of borosilicate color, stronger technical foundations, and increased confidence at the torch. Important note: Students must be comfortable pulling points and working with tubing. These skills can be learned prior to the workshop by taking an Intro to Hollow class or booking a private session before the start of the intensive.
